What the east end of 30A does to a window
Inlet Beach is where Scenic 30A meets Highway 98, and the communities along it, Seacrest, Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach and the Inlet Beach streets themselves, sit right on the Gulf with nothing between the glass and the water but a dune. The breeze comes straight in, and the big south-facing windows, French doors and rooftop terraces of Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach take on a salt haze within two or three weeks of a clean. The white walls make it worse, because the glass is the only thing on the house that shows dirt, and it shows it fast.
Lake Powell adds a second kind of moisture on the Inlet Beach side. It is one of the largest coastal dune lakes in Florida, and the homes along its shore and around Phillips Inlet stay damp most of the year, which means mildew on the shaded glass and screens in spring and fall. North of 98, in Prominence and the newer neighborhoods toward Lake Powell, the pines and live oaks drop pollen every March, and the irrigation runs on well water that leaves hard mineral spots on the lower panes. Everywhere on the east end, the sugar-sand dust gets into the tracks, and a full summer of renters opening the sliders fills them quickly.
Most Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach homes go to every month or two, because the salt comes back that fast, and most owners have the inside glass done once a year. Homes north of 98 and around Lake Powell are fine on a quarterly plan. Rental owners usually have us time the first clean of the year for just before spring break. Can you clean the tall windows and rooftop terrace glass in Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach?
Yes. The three-story towers, courtyard windows and terrace railing glass on the east end are what we are set up for. We clean them with water-fed poles from the ground and ladders where needed, and we work around the stucco and the courtyards without marking anything.
